or would like to find out more about your specific situation,
please schedule an in-person or a phone consultation with the
attorney.
HOW TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR A CONSULTATION
- Office Appointments - If you are in the greater Hartford area,
please call us at (860) 241-0081 to set up an appointment. We will
provide you with a checklist of documents to bring to the consultation.
- Phone Consultations -
If you are outside the greater
Hartford area and wish to arrange for a phone consultation, please
call our office at (860) 241-0081 with your address and we will
send you a detailed questionnaire and a checklist of items to collect.
Send these items back to us along with a check for the consultation
fee. When returning these documents, include a few alternative dates
and times for a phone consultation. We will then call you to confirm
the appointment time and date. At the time of the consultation
appointment, please call our office and plan to spend about an
hour on the phone. We must receive your questionnaire, documents
and consultation fee PRIOR to the phone consultation so that our
discussion can cover any issues concerning these documents.
CONSULTATION POLICY
- We charge an initial consultation fee for analysis and advice of your immigration options. This fee is not meant to establish an attorney-client relationship. It is payable on the day of the consultation regardless of whether you ultimately decide to enter into an attorney-client relationship which will require completing and signing a written legal services agreement and making an initial payment toward the total fees.
- If our services are retained the day of the consultation, the consultation fee will be waived.
- By "retained" we mean a formal written legal services agreement is entered into and a deposit toward the total fees is paid.
INITIAL CONSULTATION
- You will have an in-depth interview with the attorney, and an evaluation of current and proposed immigration plans and alternatives. The session usually lasts from 45 minutes to an hour. You may ask the attorney whatever questions you have.
- You will learn about procedures, processing times, likelihood of success, potential issues, logistics, and methods and frequency of communication with the attorney and staff. You may be given information to take home with you.
- You will be able to discuss fees, costs, billing and payment methods with the attorney. These are usually discussed after the attorney learns more about your case and is able to decide what course of action is needed. An assessment of your situation and the fees are based on your specific facts and our experience with similar cases.
BILLING POLICY
- We generally do not quote fees over the telephone until we have interviewed you at length. The reason is that we like to conduct a complete personal evaluation so that we can determine the specific service(s) to be provided. Our fees vary for each service and are based on the specific facts in your case, results in similar cases, anticipated or actual time of all staff devoted to the case, the complexity or extraordinary nature of the issues, the need for expedited processing, and your ability to pay.
- We provide written fee agreements and conflicts disclosure notices. In some cases, we are not able to predict the total amount of fees and costs due to unanticipated actions by other parties or agencies, or changes in the law. Other than the initial consultation fee policy, flexible billing arrangements are available including hourly fees, flat fees, or a combination. Most cases are billed monthly and/or in stages. Payment plans are available.
